The World’s Best Hiking Trails You Need to Add to Your Bucket List

Sometimes the best way to explore the world is by hiking. There are some incredible trails out there that offer the most amazing views; you just need to be willing to walk them. It’s a lot of effort, but the outcome is absolutely worth it.

Inca Trail (Peru)

Anyone who considers themselves a hiker needs to experience the Inca Trail at some point in their lives. The trek to Machu Picchu is incredibly famous and rightly so, because the ancient ruins at the end are worth the effort of walking to them. It’s not the easiest trail to hike, especially as there’s a lot of climbing involved. However, if you fancy a challenge, you won’t be disappointed by the sights and sounds of Peru’s natural surroundings. Plus, as you have to walk this trail in organized tours, it’s a great place to meet fellow hikers.

Torres del Paine W Trek (Chile)

For something on the easier side, why not try this hiking trail in the Torres del Paine National Park? There’s little climbing involved, so the only thing you need to be prepared for is a lot of walking. The hike takes roughly five days from start to finish, so your feet might be a little tired by the end of it. Luckily, there are plenty of places to stay throughout the trail, meaning you never have to worry about missing out on a good night’s sleep. Just be prepared for some very wet weather while you’re here, which might hide the stunning views of glaciers and granite towers.

Milford Track (New Zealand)

For those who fancy a trip to the southern hemisphere, the trail from Lake Te Anau to Milford Sound might be what you’re looking for. It’s a four-day hike that takes you through a variety of different environments, including wetlands and rainforests. This is an excellent way to see the sights that New Zealand has to offer, especially as you get to experience Sutherland Falls. It’s the country’s tallest waterfall, which looks just as majestic as it sounds. Prepare to get soaked if you think about going anywhere near it, though.

Everest Base Camp (Nepal)

If you don’t feel prepared to climb Mount Everest, then doing the Base Camp trail is the next best thing. It’s a relatively straightforward path, albeit one that’s long and at quite a high elevation. It usually takes people around 12 days to walk this trail, and that’s because travelers are advised to take rest days to avoid altitude sickness. This might not suit any impatient hikers out there, but if you’re willing to bide your time, you won’t be disappointed. After all, how often do you get to trek through snow-capped mountains and explore remote monasteries and villages?

It’s incredible how much of the world you can see when you go hiking. Although it might be hard to admire the views when you’re exhausted from walking, you’re sure to appreciate the experience once it’s over. Just use that feeling of accomplishment to get you through to the end.
